User Cannot Access a Procedure

If a user cannot access or edit a procedure that he created, the most likely problem lies with the asset class that the procedure is associated with. Asset classes are organized into larger asset groups, and it is these asset groups that users are granted security rights to.

Problem

A user may report that after loading or creating a procedure, he cannot find it when searching and that the only way to access it is to manually enter the procedure ID in the URL. Additionally, when attempting to edit the procedure, the user may report that asset class field is populated, but cannot be edited.

Solution

Check whether the procedure has an asset class associated with it that is not in an asset group that the user has access to. If this is the case, there are several ways to resolve the problem:

  • On the Asset Groups page, add the asset class associated with the procedure to an asset group that the user has rights to.
  • On the User Security page, grant the user security rights to an asset group that contains the asset class associated with the procedure.
  • On the Edit Procedure page, remove the asset class association from the procedure.
